Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practices

Course - Developing Mathematical Practices

One of the most popular PD initiatives is the DMP (Developing Mathematical Practices) course. The course is developed by Dr. Jenny K. Tsankova and licensed by the DESE. The DMP course focuses on teaching the Common Core State Standards through the Standards for Mathematical Practice. The course was piloted at the beginning of summer 2012 in Beverly, MA, and followed by sections in Lowell, Brockton, Hanover, North Attleboro, Westport, Reading, and Taunton.

The participants have the opportunity to take the course for 3 graduate credits from Endicott College ($240). The course has been approved by DESE as a content course and can be used for professional certification.

The following Power Point Presentation provides more information about both content and logistics of the course.
